Product Review: Herbalife Protein Bars

Herbalife's product range doesn't just stop at shakes and vitamins, they cover a whole range, and one of the categories is called "healthy snacking" - and this is really a good one!

I'm one of those guys always looking for something to nibble on, and I'm sure there's lots of other people who does the same, and lucky for us, Herbalife saw the need to create some healthy snacking products.

My favourite one in the catalog is by far the protein bars. Here's what they look like:

As you can see in the picture above, they look like normal chocolate bars - big difference is they're a much healthier option - you get a solid 10 grams of protein per bar, it's high in those important B vitamins (including B1 and B2) which helps release energy from fats and carbs, plus, each bar is ONLY 140 calories!

You buy them in boxes of 14 bars, and even get them in different flavours - Chocolate Peanut, Vanilla Almond and Citrus Lemon.

We make sure to always have a box or two of these around the house, at least when we do fold and grab for a chocolate, we know it's something healthy, low in calories and high in protein!

Oh, silly me, almost forgot the best part, you see that chocolate around the bars - that real Belgium Chocolate baby! Oh yeah!!

Herbalife - A real business. Seriously!

Ok, by now you know that Herbalife is the number 1 nutrition and weight management company in the world, with world class products THAT ACTUALLY WORK.

So, having such awesome products doesn't do anything if it's not out there in the marketplace right? Now, Herbalife could have decided from the beginning to distribute their products by "regular" means, for example, sell it via retail stores and outlets.

Mark Hughes, the genius behind the whole company, decided against this method of distribution for one very real and valid reason - if you buy a product in a huge supermarket, especially something that is a targeted product like Herbalife, nobody from that store will follow up with you, make sure you're taking the products correctly and so on. In other words, you're going to end up being a number nobody cares about.

Mark decided to get the products to the customers by direct sales. Not only that, we, as distributors, are trained to help our customers get results and to, most importantly, care about our customers. They're not just numbers to us. I care about each and every one of my customers that has bought products from me so far - and even if they stop buying products, I don't stop caring!

So, you are probably thinking that by making sales is the only way that we make money with Herbalife right? That is fortunately not the case. You see, the thing is, by making direct sales already puts a limit on the amount of money you can make. The truth of the matter is, you can only help so many customers in the time that is available to you each month, be it 1 or 2 hours a day, or if you have some miraculous super power, 24 hours a day! There is a PHYSICAL limitation to how much money you can make by directly selling the products.

So, how the Herbalife marketing plan works is really something of brilliance! When we become a distributor, you immediately get to buy products directly from Herbalife at a discount, and this discount is available to each and every single person interested in having said discount! The only way, however, to become a distributor is to be SPONSORED by an existing one, and to purchase the International Business Pack (IBP) from them.

You are now probably thinking, hey, that sucks! I'm now losing my profit from the sales I would have made! Do you think if that was the case, Herbalife would be as amazingly successful as they are today? I mean, they had a turnover of $5.4 Billion in 2011, and have had DOUBLE FIGURE growth almost every year for the last couple of years!

For sponsoring someone to get their own discount, Herbalife doesn't take that lightly - as a thank you to you, they will pay you commission based on your discount percentage and their discount percentage. Let's use the following example:

Here's me, Rudi, and I'm a brand new Distributor, and I start at a pretty sweet 25% discount on the products. Awesome!

I now sell $100 worth of products to some friends and family who are amazed by my awesome results, and BAM - I just made $25! The discount I got became my profit!

I work myself up the marketing plan, and eventually get myself to the really awesome 50% discount level.

Now, that same $100 made me a solid $50 in retail profit! pretty cool hey?

One of my customers is so happy with her results, that she wants her own discount - I do NOT turn her away, she can have her own discount as well! So now I sponsor her to be a distributor as well - and voila, she gets her own 25% discount!

So, her products that she used to pay $100 for, she now pays $75 for, and poor little old me doesn't make any retail profit - LUCKILY, Herbalife being as awesome as they are, looks at me and sees that I've been working hard to get myself to the 50% discount level. As a thank you, they take the difference between our percentages, and pays that next month on the 15th into my bank account.

So, I used to make $50 on that $100 sale, but now I only make $25, but my friend can now service herself - she can in effect BUY FROM HER OWN STORE.

And this, my loyal readers, is called PASSIVE INCOME - Yes I did do some work initially to get my friend some great results on the products, but now she can get her own, and I make money every time she does - sweet!!

Now, what happens when my friend decides she also wants to get her own customers and help them get results (it's easy, people are already asking what the hell she's been doing, because she's gotten some amazing results!). She now too works herself up to the 50% discount, and you'd probably think now that that is a sad day form me, since I'm not getting any wholesale commission anymore - well, think again! There is no difference between our discount percentages (we both buy products at 50% discount), but Herbalife will now start paying me ROYALTIES, you know, just because they're awesome and wanted to thank me for helping someone else do the same thing I'm doing! I now still get 5% of my friend's entire turnover!

So, in a nutshell, the main goal is to get the amazing products out there, but you can help other people do the same, and be rewarded for doing so - both financially and emotionally (it's quite special to help someone who has been struggling their whole life lose some weight, believe me!)!
